We had to take a few days off from posting because we were busy with moving. We decided to save a few Euros a day by getting a bungalow at a local campground. We have a great view of the Caprera Mountains and a little inlet. We also returned our big luxury Renault station wagon for a sporty Alfa Romeo! Jeff is very happy to be our chauffer. Since our change of residence we have been able to prepare our own meals on a gas stove and on a cast iron barbecue pit. We no longer worry about restaurants being open or closed. We have more freedom and feel like we have become residents of this enchanted isle. We went swimming and snorkeling at a nude beach the other day. We kept our clothes on, as should some other guests!
We also found out some interesting history about the area. In the 1940's Mussolini was imprisioned in a chalet right next door to the library where we are sending you this update. Hitler tried numerous times to break him out, but failed. Many Italian Nationalists tried to get him out of the jail but were unsuccessful. They moved him to mainland Italy where he was hung upside down in a public square to die. We decided the prison sentence was much more appealing. Nice place!
