After the market we continued our excursion to the school. We had a good idea of where it was, but not visiting for so many years made it a challenge to find it. After taking at least 3 wrong turns, we found the right road. 20 years ago the road was not paved, however times have changed and anyone with a Sector 9 wouldn't mind giving it a ride. The school has changed a little bit on the inside; however the same school secretary is still there. Her name is Paola Riva and my mother recognized her right away. She gave us visitors passes and we were able to meander around the school. We got to the black top which is now completely enclosed with a large fence (thanks to some lawsuit I am sure!). When I was younger we were able to explore the whole area surrounding the school. We had great places to play "hide and seek" and went exploring through the trees.
The view from the school is still beautiful, although there is a huge fence in the way.
When our tour of the facilities and grounds was over we returned our visitor passes to Mrs. Riva. She had found the 1979 class photos while we were out and let us see the pictures from the past. Here I am from Kindergarten and Jennifer's picture was from 4th grade!
After the fun at school we went to visit an old friend Luigi Caria. He was great friends with my parents and it was great to reminisce.
Luigi had some old photos of my dear father. You can get a sense of his humor! Luigi's nick name was the "Bloody Twit".
